Keira Knightley Joins Star-Studded Harry Potter Audiobooks

Keira Knightley is heading back to Hogwarts — this time with her voice. The Oscar-nominated actor has joined Audible’s ambitious Harry Potter Full-Cast Audio Editions, stepping into the role of Dolores Umbridge in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

The fifth instalment in the series lands on 10 March, complete with a first clip that showcases Knightley’s chillingly polite take on Hogwarts’ most notorious High Inquisitor.

A New Umbridge for a New Generation

Knightley voices Umbridge opposite Cush Jumbo, who serves as narrator across the audio drama series. In the newly released excerpt, Umbridge delivers her first address to Hogwarts students and staff — all sugar-coated menace and brittle authority.

The production is part of the wider Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions, a sweeping reimagining of J.K. Rowling’s seven-book saga. The project features more than 200 performers, immersive Dolby Atmos sound design, original music, and detailed soundscapes designed to pull listeners straight into the wizarding world.

Knightley joins an expansive ensemble that includes Hugh Laurie as Albus Dumbledore, Matthew Macfadyen as Lord Voldemort, Riz Ahmed as Severus Snape, and Michelle Gomez as Professor McGonagall. Later casting waves added Kit Harington as Gilderoy Lockhart, Ruth Wilson as Bellatrix Lestrange, Simon Pegg as Arthur Weasley, and James McAvoy as Mad-Eye Moody, among many others.

The Wizarding World Expands in Audio

The Full-Cast Audio Editions began rolling out in November 2025, with a new title debuting each month. Order of the Phoenix arrives this week, followed by Half-Blood Prince on 14 April and Deathly Hallows on 12 May, completing the series.

The scale of the production signals just how valuable the audio side of the Wizarding World has become. More than 1.4 billion hours of Harry Potter audio have already been consumed worldwide, and this new iteration aims to offer something closer to prestige drama than traditional narration.

It also arrives at a moment when the franchise is evolving across multiple formats. HBO is developing a long-form television reboot, with casting updates continuing to surface — most recently in HBO’s Harry Potter reboot casting a second Ron Weasley. The audio series adds another layer, giving fans a fresh way to revisit the original text while the on-screen future takes shape.
